Nigeria Election Data Observatory
What we’re doing
The Nigeria Election Data Observatory (NEDO) is a consortium-led initiative focused on strengthening election data gathering, observation, accountability, and transparency ahead of Nigeria’s 2027 General Elections. The consortium brings together civil society, media, and civic technology organisations with complementary expertise to build a shared system for collecting, verifying, analysing, and communicating election data.
As Nigeria prepares for another major electoral cycle, challenges around fragmented election observation, limited access to timely and reliable election data, and gaps in the verification and use of election information continue to affect public understanding and electoral accountability. NEDO was established to address these challenges by creating a coordinated election data system that enables participating organisations to generate, share, verify, and use credible evidence throughout the electoral process.
The consortium combines human-led election observation, digital data collection, election results tracking, verification, data analysis, and public communication. Through this shared approach, NEDO seeks to strengthen the availability and use of credible election data, support evidence-based reporting and analysis, and provide civic actors, journalists, researchers, policymakers, and citizens with reliable information to make sense of Nigeria’s electoral process.
